Studio portrait of Signaller 4798 Private (Pte) Bryan Palmes, 25th Battalion, of Hainsult, Camboon, Qld. Formerly a station hand, Pte Palmes enlisted on 13 January 1916 and as a member of the 12 Reinforcements he embarked from Sydney aboard RMS Mooltan on 12 April 1916. He served on the Western Front where he was killed in action during the second battle of Bullecourt on 3 May 1917, aged 19.
