Studio portrait of 4167 Private (Pte) Arthur Dalgetta Lewis, 25th Battalion, of Shell Harbour, NSW. A clerk prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 10th Reinforcements from Brisbane aboard HMAT Commonwealth on 28 March 1916. While serving in the Somme Valley, France, Pte Lewis was killed in action on 14 November 1916, aged 21. He was buried at Warlencourt British Cemetery, France.
