Connell, Clement Bernard (Private, b.1888 - d.1917)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 6480 Private Clement "Clem" Bernard Connell, 1st Australian Infantry Battalion. Collection consists of an original handwritten letter written by Private Connell to his sister, Violet Grace Marriott (nee Connell), from Salisbury Plain and is dated 8 February 1917. The letter details the freezing conditions experienced by the soldiers during the winter in France and also includes reflections on Private Clement's stay in Hospital in England. Private Connell was killed in action in Belgium and died on 21 September 1917 at the age of 27.
