Description
Collection relating to VX22 Lieutenant Colonel (Lt-Col) Geoffrey Hutton Brock, 2/7 Battalion. Lt-Col Brock served in Greece and the Middle East, where he was promoted to the rank of Major and awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) for 'Distinguished service, zeal and efficiency' on 8 July 1941. He later transferred to New Guinea with the 31/51 Battalion. Lt-Col Brock had returned to Australia shortly before he died of illness in Queensland on 19 December 1943, aged 36 years.
The collection consists of letters relating to the Distinguished Service Order; letters of condolence written to his wife, Audrey; handwritten report from 2/7 RSM; service details; travel writing, and Italian signal translations.
