Victorian Mounted Rifles
Description
Depicts a Sergeant of the Victorian Mounted Rifles seated on a brown horse. He has a neatly groomed mustache, and has an ammunition bandolier slung across his left shoulder. His Martini Henry rifle is stored in a rilfe bucket that is located behind his right leg, and he is wearing leather leggings over his boots, and a standard pattern belt. The Sergeant's gaze is focused to the right of the image, and the surrounding environment is a rough approximation of scrubby, dry, Australian bush. This work was taken from the book 'Her Majesty's Army: Indian and Colonial Forces', by Walter Richards.
