Description
Studio portrait of 3762 Private Denis Ambrose Hanrahan, 7th Battalion of Alberton West, Victoria. He has a fob pinned to his chest through which are threaded ribbons representing either the colours of his unit (brown and red) or the colours of the flag (red, white and blue). A farmer prior to enlistment, he embarked on 23 November 1915 on HMAT Ceramic (A40) with the 12th Reinforcements. He was killed in action on 6 October 1917 on the Menin Road, aged 20 years.
