Church, Armentieres
Description
Watercolour on artist's paper attached to scrapbook leaf, depicting the bomb-damaged Notre Dame in Armentieres. The town lies on the Belgian border, northwest of the city of Lille. Apart from the shell-damaged spire and evidence of rubble around the entrance, the front is relatively unscathed. Armentieres suffered tremendously during the First World War.
