Studio portrait of soldiers who are probably members of the 4th Pioneer Battalion. Back row, standing, left to right: Private (Pte) Pollock (probably 3423 Pte Henry Pollock); 3430 Pte Renfeldt Rosenius; 3476 (later 3476A) Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Cyril Charles John Kruck; and Pte C (?) Dyer . Front row, seated; Pte Swanson (probably 3442 Pte Charles Henry Swanson); and Corporal (Cpl) Ross (probably 3472 Cpl William Alexander Ross). A carpenter from Brisbane, Qld, prior to enlistment, L Cpl Kruck was killed in action in Belgium on 12 June 1917, aged 25.
