Description

Depicts a member of the South African Labour Corps, holding a pitchfork. He wears an oversized Army coat and wide-brimmed hat, with large shoes at the end of skinny legs. The South African Labour force were employed in France early 1917, a base being established in the northern region of Arques-la-Bataille.
