Studio portrait of Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Ronald George Smith, 31st Squadron RAAF, of Strathfield, NSW. He was a juniour draughtsman prior to enlisting in April 1943. Flt Sgt Smith was the navigator on board Beaufighter A19-163 when it crashed during take off from Broome, WA on 18 September 1944. Flt Sgt Smith and the pilot, 427244 Flt Sgt Ronald Stephen Kerrigan, were killed. Flt Sgt Smith was 19 years of age.
