Studio portrait of F1877 Able Seaman (AB) Arthur John Andrews, HMAS Sydney, of Welshpool, WA, with his wife Gwen and 11 month old daughter Yvonne. AB Andrews had been a member of the Royal Australian Naval Reserve since 1934. He was mobilised on 2 September 1939 and joined the crew of HMAS Sydney. AB Andrews was one of 645 crew members who lost their lives following the engagement between HMAS Sydney and the German cruiser Kormoran off the coast of Western Australia on 20 November 1941. He was 28 years of age.
