Studio portrait of WX26631 Private (Pte) Edward James Kavanagh, 44 Battalion, of Mosman Park, WA. He was a tiler prior to enlistment in July 1942. Pte Kavanagh was transferred to the 2/28 Battalion in August 1942 and served in North Queensland. In November 1945 2/28 Battalion was sent to Morotai, Indonesia, in preparation for operations against the Japanese in Borneo. Pte Kavanagh was killed in action in Borneo on 16 June 1945. He was 28 years of age.
