Description
Letter written by 425115 Flight Sergeant (F/Sgt) Norman William Buchanan, No. 49 Squadron (RAF). The letter was written to his mother, to be sent in the event of his death. During a precision raid on the German research establishment at Peenemunde, Denmark in August 1943, F/Sgt Buchanan's Lancaster aircraft (JA691 EA-L) was shot down by a German night fighter. There were no survivors. The crew are all buried at Aabenraa Cemetery.
