Studio portrait of 1001 Second Lieutenant (2nd Lieut) Alexander Howard Parker Fyfe, 8th Machine Gun Company, of Cottesloe, WA. An assistant surveyor before enlisting on 8 January 1915, he embarked as a Corporal with the 6th Reinforcements, 10th Light Horse Regiment. Following training in England, he was appointed a Second Lieutenant in the 8th Machine Gun Company on 25 August 1917. He was killed in action at Westhoek near Hooge on 26 September 1917, at the age of 24, and is buried in the Hooge Crater Cemetery, Zillebeke.
