Studio portrait of, left, 2152 Private (Pte) Albert Vincent Goodwin, 20th Battalion, of Tingha, NSW and an unidentified British officer. A miner prior to enlisting in July 1915, Pte Goodwin embarked on board HMAT Argyllshire (A8) on 30 September 1915. He served at Gallipoli from November 1915 until evacuation in December, after which he spent several months at Alexandria, Egypt. In March 1916 he was sent to France. Pte Goodwin was reported missing in action on 31 July 1916 at Pozieres. It was later determined that he had been killed in action by shellfire. He was 20 years of age.
