Studio portrait of 5335 Corporal (Cpl)) Robert Gordon Fowler, 20th Battalion. A school teacher from Paddington, NSW prior to enlistment, Cpl Fowler embarked with the rank of Private with the 14th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Wiltshire on 22 August 1916. On 15 March 1917, aged 18, he died of wounds received in action near the Somme and was buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France. .
