Description
A United States (US) Army M48 mine clearing tank on loan from the US Army to 1 Field Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers. The vehicle was used to sweep for mines in Phuoc Tuy Province in areas where the Australian Task Force operated. This M48 was usually crewed by a three man team from 1 Field Squadron, including the crew commander 3797996 Sapper Peter Jeffrey McCole. The vehicle has just been repaired after suffering serious damage from a mine blast which also wounded the crew. The tank has a white kangaroo and the call sign 92T stenciled on the turret. It has also been named 'Septic' by the Australians.
