Studio portrait of SX2916 Captain (Capt) John Howell McLean Price, 2/27 Battalion, of Renmark, SA. On 13 June 1941 in Syria, Capt Price, Quartermaster for the battalion, was travelling in the first truck in a group carrying supplies at 4.15am when it strayed into enemy territory and struck a land mine. The driver Lance Sergeant Harry Waye and Capt Price were both killed. Capt Price was aged 40 years.
