Studio portrait of Petty Officer (PO) William Reginald Devine (Reg) Smith, HMAS Sydney. PO Smith enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 10 September 1934 and served on the HMAS Sydney from 1935 until 1941. He was one of 645 crew members who lost their lives following the engagement between HMAS Sydney and the German cruiser Kormoran off the coast of WA on 20 November 1941. PO Smith was 25 years of age.
