Description
Q3747 (later QX40903) Lieutenant (Lt) (later Captain) Sydney Swain Appleby, 2/14 Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry), on his horse 'Steamboat' at Southport showground. The 2/14 Light Horse paraded in Southport for the last time before being disamalgamated in December 1940. Lt Appleby later enlisted in the Second AIF and served with the Far East Liaison Office (FELO) in Hollandia, Morotai and Labuan.
