Studio portrait of 524 Private (Pte) Charles Lindsay Davis, 19th Battalion, of Adamstown, NSW. A carpenter prior to enlisting in March 1915, Pte Davis embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June 1915. After further training in Egypt the 19th Battalion landed at Anzac Cove on 21 August 1915. On 9 September 1915 Pte Davis was wounded in action by a gun shot wound to the abdomen. He died later that day at No. 16 Casualty Clearing Station at Mudros, Greece. Pte Davis was 19 years of age.
