Description
Studio portrait of 2801 Private (Pte) Charles Volney Forbes, 35th Battalion. A grazier from Nyngan, NSW, before enlistment, Pte Forbes left Australia with the 6th Reinforcements on HMAT Beltana (A72) in November 1916. After training in England he joined his battalion in Belgium. He was killed at Messines a week later on 11 July 1917, aged 25.
