Universal Aristocrat Playing Cards [Autographed pack of cards belonging to TX4928 Driver Stanley James Garth]
Description
Pack of Universal Aristocrat Playing Cards autographed by POWs and other servicemen at about the time of liberation of the Japanese POW camps in 1945. Related to the service of TX4928 Driver Stanley James Garth 8 Division Australian Army Supply Corps. Driver Garth was interned at a succession of POW camps to take part in forced labour for the Japanese, including Changi and Osaka.
Includes a small photograph dated February 1942. It is captioned on the reverse: 'This photo is a souvenir of our position at Tanglen [Biko?] with plenty of shells to keep us company.'
