Description
A black silhouetted soldier on a green background with organic shapes. This work was created when Cattapan returned from Timor-Leste. The background paper with it's organic abstract shapes was made around 10 years before. Cattapan was attracted to the colour and shapes and added the silhouette of the soldier over it - it was part of his process of developing ideas for the commission which would be reflected in the simple outlines and silhouettes of the carbon works and paintings. Cattapan uses drawing as a means of artistic exploration as well as a beginning for his later meditations on subjects.
