Next Record >Souvenir program for a reception held during the First World War. This program is for a reception concert held in St Kilda Town Hall on Wednesday 4 December 1918 at 8pm. This concert was held to welcome home Australian servicemen from St Kilda who had left Australia in 1914. Performers during the evening were Evelyn Ashley, Bonnie Gill, Jessie Shmith, Harry Newton, Alex Patterson and Bobby Pearce. The program features the words to the songs 'Home sweet home', Heroes of the Dardanelles', 'Australia's boys were there' and 'Till the boys come home.' Presentations to the ninety-seven soldiers returning from active service were made at 9pm by the Mayor of St Kilda, Councillor A Sculthorpe.
