Studio portrait of 2418 Private (Pte) Irven McInnes, 28th Battalion, of Perth, WA. A farmer prior to enlisting in July 1915, Pte McInnes embarked from Fremantle with the 5th Reinforcements on aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 13 October 1915. They arrived at the AIF camp at Tel-el-Kebir, Egypt on 19 January 1916 and travelled to France with the 28th Battalion on 21 March 1916. Pte McInnes was killed in action at Pozieres on 29 July 1916. He was 25 years of age.
