Souvenirs 2, Concert and Theatre Programs Collection - First World War 1914-1918
< Previous Record | Next Record >Souvenir of a skit written during the First World War. This skit was written by officers at the Holdsworthy Camp, (also known as the German Concentration Camp), on 12 November 1918 just after the Armistice. The skit makes light of some of the common occurrences within the camp and is based off military instructions given to the officers from their superiors. Accompanying the skit is a letter written from Captain S C Calderwood a co- writer of the skit, giving a detailed explanation of the jokes and nuances within the 'Special Orders'. Captain Calderwood ends his letter with the statement that the German concentration camp at Holdsworthy was one of the most tedious camps he had ever been in and in regards to the skit 'one had to enliven the proceedings somehow'.
