Informal portrait of NX129455 Private (Pte) Leslie Thomas Bastock, 55/53rd Battalion, of Marrickville, NSW. A machine operator prior to enlistment he embarked from Port Moresby, New Guinea on 21 July 1942. Pte Bastock died of wounds in Papua on 19 December 1942, aged 23. He is buried at the Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery.
