Studio portrait of 2978 Private (Pte) Walter Thomas Shrimpton and his brother Norman Shrimpton, of Parkes, NSW. A labourer prior to enlistement, Pte Shrimpton, aged 21, embarked with the 7th Reinforcements, 57th Battalion, from Sydney on HMAT Afric on 3 November 1916. He was killed in action on 15 October 1917 in Belgium. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial.
