Outdoor portrait of 3944 Corporal (Cpl) John George Lancaster, 20th Battalion of Manilla, NSW. A labourer at the time of enlistment, Private Lancaster embarked with the 9th Reinforcements on 20 January 1916 aboard HMAT Runic (A54). He was killed in action on 6 November 1917. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
