Description
Studio portrait of Lieutenant Francis Patrick Laracy, MC, 1st Battalion of Toowoomba, Qld, attached to a memorial card. A chemist's assistant prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 1st Field Ambulance on 20 October 1914 aboard HMAT Euripides (A14) with the rank of Private and the service number 121. In 1916 he transferred to the 1st Battalion. He was drowned when the SS Leinster was torpedoed and sunk in the Irish Sea on 10 October 1918; he was aged 27 years.
