Group portrait including 5988 Private (Pte) Henry Douglas Boyd (second from left). A fitter of Rockhampton, Qld, with eighteen months service in the Military Citizens' Forces (CMF), Boyd enlisted on 6 March 1916. He embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Itonus (A50) with the 19th Reinforcements of the 15th Battalion. He was captured by the Germans and became a prisoner of war (POW) on 11 April 1917. He was repatriated to England on 29 November 1918. He returned to Australia on 22 September 1919, however died on 6 May 1922 in the Rosemount Military Hospital, Brisbane, aged 29.
