Studio portrait of 2307 Private (Pte) Oliver Matthew James Goldsmith, grazier, of Condamine, Queensland (born at Corack, near Donald, Victoria.) He enlisted in the 41st Battalion on 26 June 1916 and embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Boonah on 21 October 1916 for Plymouth, England, arriving on 10 January 1917. He was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital on 12 February 1917 suffering from acute bronchitis and died of the illness on 14 February 1917. He was aged 23 years. This image is one from a poster produced at Donald, Victoria, commemorating the deaths of soldiers associated with Donald and surrounding district during the First World War.
