Studio portrait of 5324 Private (Pte) William Alexander Creswick, farmer, of Corack East, Victoria. He joined the 24th Battalion on 22 February 1916 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Miltiades on 1 August 1916 for Plymouth, England, before joining his unit on the Western Front in France on 20 November 1916. Pte Creswick was killed in action near Favreuil, France. He has no known grave and his death is recorded on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial France. He was aged 22 years. This image is one from a poster produced at Donald, Victoria, commemorating the deaths of soldiers associated with Donald and surrounding district during the First World War. The poster is held at P08261.001.
