Description
Studio portrait in civilian clothing of 1328 (has also been recorded as 1393) Private (Pte) Leslie Bremner McConechy, labourer, of Cabramatta, New South Wales. He enlisted in the 8th Battalion in Donald, Victoria, on 24 October 1914and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Clan McGillivray on 2 February 1915 for Gallipoli. Pte McConechy was killed in action at Gallipoli on 7 August 1915. He was aged 38 years. This image is one from a poster produced at Donald, Victoria, commemorating the deaths of soldiers associated with Donald and surrounding district during the First World War. The poster is held at P08261.001.
