Portrait of 404787 Basil Howard. Howard was later promoted to Wing Commander (Wing Cdr) and awarded the DFC. Wing Cdr Howard was accidentally killed in the United Kingdom on 29 May 1945 while serving with 456 Squadron, RAAF. Written on the reverse is 'Taken just after the landing the night we shot down the first Hun - note the thinning hair'.
