Studio portrait of NX35989 Corporal John "Jock" McInnes. Born in Bathgate, Scotland in 1908, McInnes immigrated to Australia in 1929. He worked on several farms in the Yenda district and married Margaret Poole in October 1937. He enlisted on 29 June 1940 and trained with the Motor Transport group of the 2/19th Battalion. He embarked for Singapore aboard HMT Queen Mary on 18th February 1941 and was promoted Acting Corporal later that year. Cpl McInnes was killed in action on 9 February 1942 and is buried in Kranji War Cemetery.
