Studio portrait of S2859 Able Seaman (AB) Eric Copping, HMAS Maitland, of Mortlake, NSW. AB Copping enlisted on 28 August 1939 and trained at HMAS Penguin and, from 1 August 1940, at HMAS Maitland. On 14 November 1941 he became a crew member of HMAS Perth. AB Copping was killed in action on 1 March 1942 when HMAS Perth was attacked and sunk in the Sunda Strait off the south coast of Java. AB Copping was 20 years of age.
