Studio portrait of 658 Private Victor Thomas Barr, 1st (later 3rd Battalion Machine Gun Corps) Machine Gun Company of Charters Towers, Qld. A draper prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Shropshire (A9) on 11 May 1917. Pte Barr died aged 19, on 24th August 1918 in the 10th General Hospital, Rouen, France, of wounds received in action on 22nd August 1918 during the Somme offensive. He is buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.
