Studio portrait of 4371 Private Walter Thomas Bray, 18th Battalion of Parramatta, NSW. A painter prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Nestor (A71) on 9 April 1916. Pte Bray was killed in action in France on 31 August 1918, during the Battle of the Somme, aged 23. He is buried in the Peronne Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
