Studio portrait of 3633 Private Thomas Cranney, 18th (later 54th) Battalion of Dubbo, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Aeneas (A60) on 20 December 1915. He was killed in action on 15 May 1917 near Riencourt, France, aged 36. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
