Studio portrait of 2509 Private Percy Freeman, 54th Battalion of Parramatta, NSW, brother of 1897 Private Herbert Freeman, (died whilst POW 14 August 1917, see P08624.407). A carter prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Aeneas (A60) on 30 November 1916. He was wounded in action on 11 May 1917 and died on 15 May 1917 at the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, aged 24. He is buried in the Grevillers British Cemetery, France.
