Studio portrait of 2153 Private (later Lance Corporal) Thomas Gregory, 20th Battalion of Parramatta, NSW. An ironworker prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Argyllshire (A8) on 30 September 1915. A British Army Boer War veteran, he died, aged 36, on 5 May 1916 at the 8th Casualty Clearing Station, France from gunshot wounds received in action at Bois Grenier, France on 3 May 1916. He is buried in the Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
