Studio portrait of 3315 Private Herbert Ernest Haydon, 3rd (later 55th) Battalion of Parramatta, NSW. A printer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November 1915. He died from pneumonia on 9 February 1917 at the military hospital, Fulham, Hammersmith, London, England, aged 23. He is buried in the Kensal Green (All Souls) Cemetery, England.
