Studio portrait of 2925 Private Alfred George Jessop, 31st Battalion of Tweed River, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 14 April 1916. He was killed in action at Polygon Wood, Belgium on 28 September 1917, aged 24. He was buried in the vicinity of Polygon Wood, Belgium but post war his grave was not found. He is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
