Studio portrait of 2034 Private James Alwyn Tamsett, 4th Battalion of Parramatta, NSW. A clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Kyarra (A55) on 13 April 1915. He was mortally wounded on 21 July 1915 at Gallipoli, Turkey and died of his wounds on 22 July 1915, at sea, aboard the hospital HMS Sicilia, aged 24. He is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial, Turkey.
