Studio portrait of 2903A Private Cecil William Whitney, 25th (later 9th) Battalion of Parramatta, NSW. A farmer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Brisbane aboard the HMAT Seang Bee (A48) on 21 October 1915. He was killed at Fleurbaix, France on 20 April 1916, when enemy shells struck their billet, aged 33. He is buried in the Rue-du-Bacquerot (13th London) Graveyard, Laventie, France.
