Studio portrait of 2893 Private William Gregory Fargie, 54th Battalion of Granville, NSW. A brassdresser prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 25 October 1916. He was killed in action on 15 May 1917 during the second battle of Bullecourt, France, aged 30. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
