Studio portrait of 3485 Private Michael Farrell, 26th Battalion of Mackay, Qld, brother of 4468 Private John Farrell, (died of wounds on 7 May 1917, see P08624.150) A bridge labourer prior to enlisting, Pte Michael Farrell embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Kyarra (A55) on 3 January 1916. He was killed in action on 29 October 1917 during the battle at Broodseinde, Belgium, aged 33. He is buried in the Ypres Reservoir Cemetery, Belgium.
