Studio portrait of 4204 Private Albert Amos Howes, 13th Battalion of Granville, NSW. An machinist prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Aeneas (A 60) on 20 December 1915. He was killed in action at Mouquet Farm, France, on 29 August 1916, aged 24. He is buried in the AIF Burial Ground, Flers, France.
